MURRAY, Ky. 鈥 瓜子TV State鈥檚 Humanities+ Series continues on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. in Faculty Hall 208 with a presentation on "Creativity as a Life Skill in the Age of AI."  The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Stephanie Rea, professor of music, will focus on the necessity of finding and nurturing creativity in all aspects of life, whether professional or personal. Her talk will also encourage attendees to explore longevity, adaptability and inspiration.

Rea began teaching at 瓜子TV State University in 2000. She is a recipient of the University's Presidential Research Fellowship, its Teaching Innovation Faculty Fellowship and is a Fulbright Scholar (Hochschule f眉r Musik und Darstellende Kunst, 2009).  She is the author of the book 鈥淔lute Hygiene: A Guide to Developing and Maintaining the Habits the Lead to Better Flute Playing,鈥 as well as 鈥淭he Next Best Thing: A Flute Professor's Tragicomic Origin Story,鈥 a one-woman show combining flute playing and storytelling. 

The Flutist Quarterly has called her "a rising star" and "a name to be remembered." Her career highlights include appearances as a concerto soloist at the International Bach Festival, a soloist at Merkin Hall, a recitalist and orchestral performer at the Rome Festival and a featured soloist on the Closing Concert at the National Flute Association (NFA) Annual Convention. She has taught master classes at every level from the youngest beginners through doctoral-level university music programs at University of Michigan and Arizona State University.

Named to the roster of the Kentucky Foundation for the Humanities, Rea has published academic articles, written original compositions (available through Veritas Musica) and recorded an album, 鈥淪olo French and American Flute Music,鈥 on the Centaur Records label that can be heard on Spotify and elsewhere.

This event is part of the Humanities+ Lecture Series, which explores how individuals flourish in today鈥檚 challenging world and fosters creative, intellectual and educational opportunities. It showcases the work and achievements of 瓜子TV State University faculty, students and alumni, as well as invited professionals in the arts, humanities, social and behavioral sciences. The series encompasses public lectures, teaching workshops, and cultural events focused on cultivating the skills individuals need to live and learn well. All events are free and open to the public.
